Mr. Lawrence Stitcher

Mr. Lawrence E. Stitcher, age 84, of Hogansville, passed away Friday, February 26, 2016, at his home. Mr. Stitcher was born April 29, 1931, in Coweta County, son of the late Hories Edward Stitcher and Clara Mae Dewberry Stitcher. A resident of Troup County most of his life, he began work as a doffer at Dunson Mill but spent most of his working career as a self-employed brick and block mason. He enjoyed his home and his land and was an avid gardener. Survivors include his children, Joanne and Walter Capes of LaGrange, Bobby and Lorene Stitcher, Gail Stitcher, Brenda and Danny Chatham, Lorie and Robbie Johnson all of Hogansville, Kenneth and Terita Stitcher, Tanya Hall all of LaGrange, Teresa and Richard Fuller, Denise and Jerry Ivey all of Hogansville, Dennis and Ann Pike of LaGrange, Joe and Audrey Pike of Pine Mountain; sisters, Elvie and Howard Wade, Shirley and Buddy Moon all of Hogansville; 28 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirlene Stitcher; and sisters, Marie Costley and Wilma Stitcher. The funeral service was conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 28, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Jody Mitchell officiated and interment was in the Stitcher Family Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed at www.mckibbenfuneralhome.com

Mr. George L. Conort

Mr. George L. Conort, age 62, of Grantville, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2016, at his home. Mr. Conort was born August 14, 1953 in Atlanta and lived in Atlanta until making his home in Grantville in 2002. He retired after working in the construction industry. Survivors include his mother, Emily Conort of Grantville; sisters, Nora Maddox of Norcross, Carol Conort of Grantville; brother, William Albert Conort III of Lawrenceville; five nieces and nephews; six great-nieces and nephews; and a great-great-nephew. He was preceded in death by his father, William Albert Conort, Jr. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 2, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. Interment will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, at Resthaven Gardens of Memory in Decatur. Lesley Paul Booker

Lesley Paul Booker, age 56, of LaGrange, GA, born November 22, 1959, died February 26, 2016 in his home in LaGrange, GA. He was of the Baptist faith and regularly attended church at Baptist Tabernacle in LaGrange. He was an avid fisherman and deer hunter. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren in the outdoors. He was preceded in death by his mother, Carlene Lowery Smith. Mr. Booker is survived by his father, John Tillman Smith of LaGrange; fiancé, Diane Rhodes; three brothers, Timothy Charles Booker, Arther Tillman Smith (Laura), Richard Harold Smith all of LaGrange; two sons, Sammy (Sarah) Booker of Pine Mountain and Toney (Jessica) Booker of Moreland, GA.; grandchildren, Caleb Booker, Justin Booker, Bentleigh Booker, Jamal Folds, Logan Booker, Kolby Booker; many nieces and nephews. Visitation for Mr. Booker was held on Monday, February 29, 2016, 6:00-8:00 PM, at Higgins LaGrange Chapel Funeral Home. Services were held on Tuesday, March 1, 2016, 11:00 AM at Baptist Tabernacle. Brewster C. (Sonny) Land

Mr. Brewster C. (Sonny) Land, age 76, of LaGrange, passed away on February 28, 2016 at the Hospice LaGrange. Mr. Land was born on September 23, 1939 in Russell County, Alabama to the late Lucille O. McLemore Jackson and Brewster Mallory Land. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Aaron O. Land. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carol F. Land; daughters, Terri Ozley (Daryl) and Alison Brown (Erik); aunts, Ellen Blocker, Betty Kaneaster and Katie Appling (Ray); grandchildren, Kim Jones, Krystal Bryan, Michael Means, Ericka Folds, Ben Prescott, Dustin Brown, Brandon Brown and Lana Brown; six great grandchildren; extended family and friends.
